When school is out for the summer at Sunnyvale High, Wilow takes an internship at the world reknown company, SSI, or Swift & Sons, Inc. Buffy Summers and a few of the gang accompany her, eventually landing other positions working for famous inventor, Tom Swift. And, although Tom is approaching the age when most men think of retirement, he doesn't hesitate to join in when mysterious things begin to occur.
A strange vapor spreads over areas and people don't recall anything happening. Other people begin doing things that are out of character. And, he soon realizes that his new hires are not all they seem to be. They are more!

But she, Buffy and four others from the expedition are taken captive and made prisoners of a most evil man and his followers and slaves. Which is what they become!
Willow befriends a young man with an interesting family history, and together they work to free themselves and the others from a lifetime of subservience. But a surprise awaits them as they break out of one cavernous world and into another populated by robots who have been trapped there for nearly one-hundred years; robots who think, speak French, and some who even indulge in hobbies to pass the time.
