Welcome to the page of THE THREE INVESTIGATORS Books

Written between 1964 and 1987 (with a revamped series, The Three Investigators—Crimebusters, running 1989 to 1990),
The Three Investigators stories comprised a series of 43 books in the original series and 11 in the newer series, written by several authors
who were allowed to list their real names. Numbers 1-9 were written by Robert Arthur (the series creator) with at least four
other authors adding to the series using Arthur's story ideas.

A characterized version of Afred Hitchcock is nominally involved at the beginning and end of each story, and is name is part of the titles. The books
listed below cover all original and the later "Crimebusters" books. A 44th book in the original series was never completed. Until now!

Although an American
juvenile crime inventigations series, published by Random House, there is an obvious the British influence in spellings such as flavour and neighbour.

You may Right-Click any title or cover below to directly download a PDF file of that story,
or simply single click a title to read it in your PDF-enabled browser. Please be aware that some of these titles
are still under copyright by one or more publishere and the estate of Robert Arthur. Do not distribute!

The Three Investigators Stories

The sources for the following stories come from an inherited set of pdf files. Thanks go out to to Neil L. for them! One book (#7) was missing and had to be pieced together from an Internet source. All provided files have been checked for obvious errors and typos, plus some missing punctuations have been fixed. Otherwise they appear as in the original books. As mentioned above most of these files are attributed to U.S. editions. however they exhibit all the earmarks of being unchanged from the British versions. Please understand that the spelling differences (tyres vs. tires, licence vs. license, etc.) are directly from the scanned originals and are not mistakes.

The covers are taken from various sources including the pdf files and from the Internet. In every case, a fair amount of work was necessary to make them as presentable as possible. This is especially true with one for which I was only able to locate low-quality, small artwork and had to go through a process of enlarge/fix/enlarge/fix/enlarge until I had something that can work as both a screen-quality image as well as one capable of being used in the printing industry. This was done with varying success.

Book 44 (never published)
Mystery of the Ghost Train

Okay. If there was never a book 44, then what is the cover to the right? Aren't covers created once the text is finished and ready to be printed? Well, generally the answer is "Yes," however a curious fan by the name of Daniel Storm commissioned artist Robert Adragna—the final artist for the series—to see what he might have come up with given only the title.

And, because no good series should go unfinished, the author, Hector Sebastian (the boys' mentor after the death of Alfred Hitchcock) assisted them in getting their notes into a publishable order. This had to happen because the original author, Mary V. Carey, died in 1994 after having her original manuscript rejected and the series ended.

Hector Sebastian can't allow a good story to go unwritten and so this year he worked with the three boys to put the story of The Mystery of The Ghost Train together. It is being provided only to this Tom Swift group and as both a downloadable Kindle edition as well as a formatted .PDF file.

THE THREE INVESTIGATORS - CRIMEBUSTERS

Again, the sources for the following stories come from a very kind individual and TS fan, Neil L. I am not sure of the original sources but I have reformatted them and scanned for obvious errors.

This time out, the boys are about our years older than in the first series, able to drive themselves, and get involved in even more dangerous situations. The characters of Afred Hitchcock and Hector Sebastian (for the most part) have disappeared as have illustrations other than a revamped business card for the boys.

The covers are conglomerations from various sources, as the PDF files from Neil L. featured very lo-res versions. In every case, a moderate amount of work was necessary to make them as presentable as possible. These feature versions for two different printings of the series.

THE BELOW ARE BOOKS 1 through 6. THE FINAL BOOKS WILL BE POSTED AS SOON AS THEY HAVE EACH BEEN PROCESSED (est. completion early March 2018).

Book 1: Hot Wheels

Book 2: Murder To Go
