Welcome to the page of RICK BRANT and TOM CORBETT Books

Written in the 1940s through the 1960s (with one final book printed 20 years after it was writtten), the
Rick Brant Science (or Electronic) Adventure Stories comprised a series of 24 books, all written under the house
pseudonym of John Blaine, but ultimately all written by author Harold L. Goodwin. Although about half of these
are known to be in the Public Domain, the others may not be. Please do not distribute these. Just enjoy reading them!

Only 8 Tom Corbett, Space Cadet novels were published in the mid-1950s and most were taken from or turned into
television or radio programs for those various series. It is not certain who the actual author(s) is or are.

The Rick Brant Stories

The sources for the following stories come from a variety of places. Some are scans and OCR-ings of books from my library, some are from legitimate sources found on the Internet (and edited/corrected where it is obvious that source is full of errors) and a few are from a Russian source that have posted files of several of these stories that may still be covered under U.S. copyrights.

The covers are conglomerations from various sources, from the Internet to my own books. In every case, a fair amount of work was necessary to make them as presentable as possible. This is especially true with several for which I was only able to locate low-quality, small artwork and had to go through a process of enlarge/fix/enlarge/fix/enlarge until I had something that can work as both a screen-quality image as well as one capable of being used in the printing industry. This was done with varying success.

If you wish to purchase your own quality paperbound version of any of the Rick Brant stories, they are available by direct links to be found in a list at the bottom of this section.

Rick's sister, Barby, and her friend Jan come along seeking adventure and to get the chance to fly Rick's new rocket-propelled backpack. As the first test day nears, word of a failure leaks and the race is on to find out where and who. But, the girls get into trouble when the bad guys find them snooping, and set a deadly fire to shut them up!

Book 22: The Deadly Dutchman.

After attending a science convention in Copenhagen, Rick is joined by Scotty for what is supposed to be a vacation. But, even before it begins, their room is ransacked and strange people begin to approach them insisting that Scotty "give it" to them.

Even an old friend can't help them once they confront the Deadly Dutchman!

Rick and the Sprindrift gang spot a tugboat off shore towing an oil rig through a hurricane. But, it flounders and must be cut loose where it sinks. The problem is, Rick and Scotty spotted a mysterious man near shore just as the hurricane hit and can't figure why he would be there. Then, a mysterious visit by the tug captain and company owner set his senses tingling as they seek to get him to agree the tugboat did "everything right."

After diving and finding the rig in 200 feet of water, they are shocked when the tug comes back and drags it over to a deep ocean trench as if trying to hide it. But, why? They must deep dive to find out the secret and to get the bad guys!

Book 24: The Magic Talisman.

Taken from a printing a very limited run of ONLY 500 COPIES made available 20 years after the series was cancelled. The story concerns Rick, Scotty, Barby and Jan as they befriend a trio of magicians who have just moved into an old house, one that was originally built by the greatest modern day magician, Mysto. But, with Mysto having died in an asylum, and only the bank holding control of the property, why is it that strange, magical, impossible things are happening to the new magicians?

In this final Rick Brant story, he must unravel the mystery, find out who the ghost haunting the house is, what's thumping, and restore things to the way they should be.

TOM CORBETT - SPACE CADET Stories

The sources for the following stories come from a variety of places. Several are scans and OCR-ings of books from my library, while others are from legitimate sources found on the Internet (and edited/corrected where it is obvious that source is full of errors.) Several of these stories that may still be covered under U.S. copyrights.

The covers are conglomerations from various sources, from the Internet to my own books. In every case, a fair amount of work was necessary to make them as presentable as possible. These feature cleaned versions of the original covers set into a framework of new art not previously associated with the series. This was done because few good sources of high-resolution cover art could be found.

If you wish to purchase your own quality paperbound
version of any of the Tom Corbett stories, they are available by
direct links to be found in a list at the bottom of this section.

This link takes you there

But, they aren’t the only ones after the rocket. Things might be better had the crew not been changed and an unsuitable scientist not been with them to hamper their efforts.

With sabotage afoot, and suspect crewmates, can the new cadet team come together and succeed, or might the end of this series also mean the end of Tom Corbett?

This edition contains new and reconstructed cover art along with recently scanned illustrations taken from a second-edition copy of the book. All have been cleaned up with one exception where a child scribbled ink all over it. Our best efforts have gone into making this single graphic acceptable. See if you can find it!
